ABOUT ME:

Hello! First and foremost, my name is Andrew T. Green, and I live right outside of Atlanta, Georgia. I am 18 and was born in January (for the curious).

Since I was 3 years old, my passions have been art and Nintendo. both of those have carried on since, and I'm not sure if that's sad or dedicated. Hmm...

When I was 12 or 13, I became interested in digital artwork and began working in Adobe Photoshop (I started on 7.0, but now I use CS). Since then, I have gained much ability in the way of Photoshop, and have even learned a lot about the vector program, Adobe Illustrator (again, I use CS). I have an art gallery over at DeviantART (the URL is right here)

To be a little more detailed about me, I can tell you that about the only things I do with my time are draw (mostly digital) and play video games (mostly Nintendo). It's certainly not an interesting lifestyle, but it is what it is. The biggest reason I decided to start a blog is because I wanted something new to do, something to keep me occupied. It's not terribly active, but it's nice to keep my mind occupied even more.

ABOUT THIS BLOG:

You might first wonder why I chose the name GEEKY ILLUSTRATOR, and the answer is simple: I'm a geeky illustrator. I was talking to my friend Sarah and trying to see if she had any ideas for a name. She said that instead of trying to think of a noun, I should try to think of an adjective first, and I came up with Geeky. Thus, Geeky Illustrator was born.

The art and graphics for this site are done by me unless I state otherwise (and I'm not an art theif, so I will certainly state otherwise). Thus far, I have used Adobe Illustrator CS, but I'm sure there will be some Photoshop graphics here in the future.

I did the HTML for the site, but I had a lot of help from a great site called Lissa Explains It All, which is apparently an HTML site for kids, but it's the only one that puts it all in a language I can understand (like I said, I'm an artist, not a coder).

In the future, I'm sure I'll be posting news on Nintendo and their development on the Wii. Most of this news will probably be quoted from the best Nintendo blog out there, Infendo. They have all the news, rumors, and speculation, and if I use any of their information, I'll be sure to include a link to them.

ABOUT THIS BLOG'S CONTENT

The contents of this blog are (a) a little bit about me and what is going on in my life, (b) a little bit of nonsense and theory in the world of gaming (mostly Nintendo-related) meant to induce some sort of laugh or "oh I suppose that kinda does make sense, doesn't it?", and (c) a little bit of gaming news here and there when something big happens, or when I think it is important enough to mention. Oh, and I'll be posting some of my artwork and stuff on here as well, even though you are surrouned by it upon entering this blog (as aforementioned, I did and will continue to do the artwork for this blog)

So you might be asking yourself, "why would I wanna read any of that?" Simple, you would probably have to be a geek like me. Now I must add that you should admit that you are a geek upon reading the contents of this site. Why admit you are a geek? Simple, because you are! No, actually it's because if you dont mention you are a geek, you wont get any of the material here and thus will leave and forget about my blog, which would be aweful. You know, the leading cause of people's brains oozing out of their heads (generally through the ears) is because they do not view or simply do not WISH to view my blog. So view it (as often as possible) and you will be allowed to keep your brain.

Actually, by reading my blog, you may read some things that just seems useless, thus by viewing and reading my articles and entries, you may lose a little brain matter every time. but still, at least your brain wont ooze out of your head.

Hmmmm...I like that word, ooze. I so rarely get to use it in a sentence. Darn.

I'm sure that more is to come to this side section, but until then, this is all you get. Oh well. Just keep reading.

Oh, and most importantly (and I must type this in all caps to get my point across): ALL CONTENTS OF THIS BLOG ARE (C) ME, ANDREW T. GREEN (unless stated otherwise), AND IF I CATCH YOU USING ANYTHING THAT IS DONE BY ME WITHOUT ASKING FOR MY PERMISSION FIRST (or at least without including a link to this blog), YOU WILL SUFFER FAR WORSE CONSEQUENCES THAN YOUR BRAIN OOZING OUT OF YOUR EARS!!!! I'm generally leniant on allowing people to use my images (provided the link is included and credit is given, and the images are not tampered with), but I just wanted you to know that. Oh, and by the way, FOR THE CURIOUS, ALL IMAGES THAT ARE SCREENSHOTS FROM VIDEO GAMES TAKEN BY ME ARE PUBLIC DOMAIN, JUST DONT REMOVE THE URL THAT I TYPE INTO THE TOP! That means you can use them, but PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD do not remove the URL on the picture, and (this is not required for screens, but) if you are feeling kind, include a link to my site when you use them so people feel more urged to actually visit and read this blog. I find that people dont like to go to their URL bar at the top and actually type out a URL. They find it easier to just click on links. Dont you agree?

Thanks, kiddies! Dont do drugs, be good to your momma, and jolly good day!

Working on an updated design...

As the title hints, I am working on an updated design for this blog.

While I'll probably keep to the fundamental colors (so as to not have to do too much HTML work or anything), I think the images here are WAY outdated.  In fact, they're more than a year old.  That's just too much for me.

Additionally, I'll be posting my new side section.  The one that's there is goofy and doesn't really say a whole lot about me.  The new one is much better, and suits me as I am now.

I can't wait until I'm done with all of the artwork.  It'll look so much better.

Alright, I'm out.  See you soon with a nice, new look (sort of).

Much love,

~Andrew

The Tale of the Magical Blog.

Hey,

Now, as anyone who read my last blog entry knows (that means no one), I wanted it to rain.  Badly.  I love rain.  Love it love it love it.  More than a fat kid loves cake.

And sure enough, it rained!  Yessssss!

Now, let's try something new.

Alright, I want snow.  I want it to snow.  Badly.  And I want to become a billionaire.  More than anything on the planet.

If my blog entries somehow have this ability to determine the weather or my well-being, then there you have it.  Do your magic, blog.  If this works, I'll post every day for the rest of my life.  Three times a day.  That's right.  Three times.  A day.

I realize now, reading back this blog entry, that I sound really ADD.  I think it's because I've been on the internet for way too long right now, and I want to get off.

Anyway, blog, if you can't make those things happen, at least let it rain some more.

Jesus, now I'm talking to my blog.  It's probably because my only reader is...well, my blog.  How sad.

Alright, I'm off.

Much love,
~Andrew

PS:  It's getting cold outside lately.  I love cold weather, so this is good news.  Yeah, just thought I'd throw that in for good measure.

Rain, please.

Hey,

It's technically morning.  I know.  That just seems to be when I'm active on the internet:  at late/early hours that can be disputed as night but are really morning.  It's just what I do.

This post is basically going to be spew.  A worthless, unnimportant, this-is-how-I-feel type of thing.  This is so I can go back and read it later, in the future, in case I ever feel like remembering my thoughts.

First order?

I wish it would rain.  It has'nt rained in a while, certainly not for an entire day.  The thing that really sucks about Georgia is that it'll rain, but it'll become sunny very shortly after.  Every time the sun comes back out, I kind of get in a bad mood.  Why do the clouds have to leave?

Don't get me wrong, I don't like the rain because I'm, I dunno, emo or something.  On the contrary.  I tell my dad that I wish it would rain, and he assumes I'm just being negative and gloomy.  But I'm not.  The rain is calming.  When it's raining really hard outside, I don't have my headphones on and I don't listen to music.  The rain is good enough.  The rain is mother nature's music, as hippy-ish as that sounds.  It's the best stimulant around.

It's nice to just lay down for a nap or sketch while listening to the tapping of the rain on my window.  That tapping seems to wake something up creatively.  It's like some sort of magic noise or something.

Hmmm, what else is on my mind?

Oh, yesterday (well, two days ago, technically), work was the day from hell.  It was only a 4-hour workday at the video store.  It was supposed to be quick and easy.  But I had this wave of stupid people come in for some reason.  Here's how the day went:

I walk in as I always do, but this time, the boss' boss (Charles) is there, basically watching myself and my coworker, William, and every last move we make.  That was a bad way to start the day.  He didn't stay for long after I arrived, but it was definitely not fun.

After a large influx of customers (most of which I was handling on my own), I was starting to become worn out.  Eventually, this guy comes up to me who was the basic MVP (Movie Value Pass, a rent-three-at-a-time program that lasts 30 days for a one-time fee).  He has 3 movies, all for his kids.  One of them is new, as in not on the MVP program yet.  He should have known how his money was being spent, but he didn't, because when he found out that the Dora Mermaid DVD thing was not "Free With MVP" yet, he got all mean and angry.  He started talking about how Blockbuster has better deals than that (they don't, by the way, they're pricier than we are), and how angry he was that he'd have to pay for that movie, and how he wanted to stop his MVP from re-instating, blah blah blah.  The usual.

Normally, I'd try to put a positive spin on things and be as pleasant as possible with disgruntled customers (it happens, you know), but I started getting an attitude.  I don't think he picked up on that, thankfully, but it got to a point where, if he had said any more complaints, my top was going to blow.  I was boiling inside, doing my best to keep from telling this guy to get the hell out of my store and go to Blockbuster if he was so angry with the program that he mindfully pays for, given the choice between three different MVP packages at the time of purchase.  He should have known that that Dora DVD was not free with his particular program.

But I'm ranting.  Badly.  It just really got to me.  I had another customer who was angry about how our Previously Viewed DVDs were a little out of order (no fault of ours, customers pick things up and don't put them back where they belong), and told me that I was "confused."  The fact of the matter is, I can't control whether or not that DVD applies to the $5 deal.  It's the computer's choice.  Our crappy old computers that only work half of the time anyway.

Urgh.

I'm going to stop talking about work.  It's getting irritating for me (and probably for you, too, if "you" do in fact exist, whoever "you" may be).

Hollywood Video sucks.

Alright, I'm going to go now.

G'night/Top 'o the mornin' to ya!

Sumo Bunny sketch

Hey!

Consider this my first sketch on this blog.

This is the sketch of my recent work, Sumo bunny.  He's very obviously easy to draw, and this sketch probably only took me about 10-15 minutes total (I had to flip it and fix it to make sure he didn't look wierd).

The final version can be seen here:  http://freakshow6.deviantart.com/art/Sumo-Bunny-67531253

And the lineart can be seen here:  http://freakshow6.deviantart.com/art/Sumo-Bunny-lineart-67531356

Enjoy!

So I totally need to start blogging again...

Like, totally.

Yeah, the title of this entry definitely says it all.  I really do need to start using this thing again.  I went through all of the trouble of learning extremely basic HTML code.  I wouldn't want to let that go to waste!

What I should probably do is make some new graphics for this blog, considering the ones you are (as of now) viewing are over a year old, as far as I can tell.  Yeah, GeekyIllustrator needs a nice face lift.

I still like the logo, though.  I'll likely keep that for the most part.  But yeah, this blog needs a revamp!

And, I'd like to focus it more on my artwork in a sense.  Me, as an illustrator (hence the name).  You know, make it more of a sketch blog than just a random journal type thing.  That's not to say I won't post random thoughts and stuff, but yeah.  Some sketches on here would be nice.

Alright.  Love, peace, bacon grease, y'know the drill.

Much love,

~Andrew

PS:  I just finished watching Transformers.  It was extremely entertaining!  I really enjoyed it!  Very nice visuals, too.  I recommend it.

Wii and Life

Hey!

So in the past like two weeks, I have been mostly playing Wii nonstop.  I beat Zelda, which is a long, 9.5 experience and worth more than the $50 it costs.  Buy it!

I also bought Trauma Center:  Second Opinion (a great Wii introductory game, worth buying, I think, if you have not played the DS version), and Rayman:  Raving Rabbids (not at all worth the money, play it at Fred's house instead).  Yeah.  Oh, and Wii sports is so addictive.  I bet it's even better in multiplayer.  Thank goodness it comes with the system, even though it is worth buying.

Wii is probably the best console ever.  It's so unique and has so much potential, and the fun value is unmatched.  Buy one today (if you can find one, that is).  Definately worth it!

Life is alright.  Iv'e been getting back into the swing of things with art because the glamor of Wii has died down a bit (4 games can only go so far, especially when you beat the best of the 4 already).  I'll post something new soon!

Alright, later,

~Andrew

Pink throwup

Hey,

I had a long conversation with Sarah last night that concerned pink regurgitation material for the duration of the talk.  It was indeed very amusing.  We agreed on many horrible placed to throw up, but the mall kept coming back.  I think the worst place to throw up would be into a baby carriage, because you could drown the baby in your barf.

The only reason the pink part was so recurring was because I told her that I once threw up a very large amount, and that it was solid pink.  Yes.  Pink.  but I dont remember having eaten anything pink.  Then again, that was years ago.

We also talked about embarrassing moments.  Mine regarded milk flying out of my nose during dinner at a friends house.  Unfortunately, the milk did not exclusively land on me, for the person sitting across from me was due for a laundr-o-mat visit the next day.  ^_^  Must have been a really funny joke that was being told...anyway.

Wii is next Sunday!  November 19th!  I'm so excited!  I just hope I dont throw up on it.  Even more, I hope it's not pink.  Ooh, Zelda, here I come!

Okay, I'm gonna go for now.

Later peeps.

Oh My GAWD!!!  It's finally the weekend (almost, I still have to do art class today for 2 and a half hours, which sucks).  I'm just really happy.

I'm also excited and super-hyped that Wii is in November.  YAYYAYAYAYAYYYAYAYYAYAYYAYAYAY!!!!!!!

Alright, I'm gonna go for now.  I need to do new art for myself, as well.

Later, hater!

LOZ TP IRK!

Hey,

I'll be honest.  The fact that the game map of The Legend of Zelda:  Twilight Princess was flipped in favor of Right-handed people really kind of irks me (even if I'm ambidexrous).  It just seems morally wrong, that's all.  Not morally wrong enough for me not to buy it (albiet, it'll be the first game I buy).  But still, it just seems odd.

Oh well.  Not that big of a deal.

Later,

~Andrew
